Analysis of Energy Use Efficiency and Greenhouse Gas Emission in Rainfed Canola Production (Case study: Çanakkale Province, Turkey)

Agriculture and energy are two closely related issues, agriculture not only consumes energy, but it also supplies energy. While increasing use in causes environmental problems such as greenhouse gas emissions, leads to the depletion of non-renewable resources. On other hand, decreasing emissions enhancement efficiency is among important issues sustainable agriculture. Therefore, this study was done determine inputs rainfed canola production. Data were collected by conducting face-to-face interviews period 2021-2022 42-farm Çanakkale province, located northwest Turkey. Results introduced that net gain 3.63 72786.16 MJ ha-1, respectively. In consumption, highest rate 46.62% belongs fuel, then nitrogen with 40.44%. The consumption total obtained direct (46.46%), indirect (53.54%), renewable (1.07%) (98.93%). It has been determined requirements farms belong an amount 27384.03 especially prominent diesel fuel fertilizer. results show agricultural production area where carried out mostly depends on sources, whereas very low. Total per hectare equivalent 1921.66 kg CO2, machinery 53.20% 32.66%, According out, revealed economic sustainability can be strongly recommended using mechanization, considering inputs.
